Thaddeus Street Boinest papers, 1847-1871.

Consists largely of microcopies and transcriptions of TSB's journals describing his work as a farmer, Lutheran minister, and Newberry College trustee; includes information re his student days at the Lutheran Seminary, Lexington, SC; travel notes on a trip to the General Synod in Philadelphia, May 1857 (with descriptions of Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Niagara Falls, and New York City); references to his activities as president of the Newberry immigration society after the Civil War; references to John Bachman, Ernest L. Hazelius and other prominent Lutherans. Holdings of Boinest's journals consist of one bound typescript, 1852-1866, 1868, 1870, and seven microfilm rolls of journals, 1847-1871; journals include gaps and copies of the WPA typescript. Microfilm arranged as follows: typescript of journal, 1852-1866, 1868, 1870 (R965 negative); and holograph volumes, including journal, 28 Aug 1847-8 Apr 1848, 9 Apr-28 June 1848, 1 Jan-29 Dec 1853, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1854, 1 Jan 1855-1 Jan 1856, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1856, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1858 (R1212); and journal, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1852 (R1217). Other holograph volumes include: journal, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1859, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1860, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1861, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1862, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1863, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1864, 1-12 Jan 1865 (R1213); journal, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1866, 1 Jan-31 Dec 1867 (R1214).
